Day One
Question: Ok, so why are we here?
Answer: Hello! Thanks for coming to Haute and the City. It’s my little attempt at a fashion blog.
Question: Oh, so you’re some kind of fashion expert?
Answer: Oh, no, I’m not at all. But ever since I moved to New York City, it’s been something I’ve really enjoyed and have been fascinated by. Fashion really is art, so in a lot of ways, it’s no different that appreciating the latest exhibit at MoMA.
Question: Yeah. So, the “city” in “Haute and the City” is New York? Nice. Why did you give your blog that name?
Answer: Well, to be honest, I wanted Haute Child in the City (perfect word play on that Nick Gilder song, right?), but that url was taken, and I didn’t feel like getting into an online real estate war. So I decided to play on Sex and the City.
Question: Who are you, anyway?
Answer: My name is Tyler.
Question: Ok, Tyler. What kind of fashion are you going to write about?
Answer: Good question! I’m going to write about a lot of different things. I’m hoping to use this blog as a vehicle to learn about the fashion industry, so I’ll be looking a lot at designers, history, campaigns, even how they market themselves. I’ll probably mostly talk about menswear because, well, that’s what I wear. All from my perspective!
Question: Why are you writing about this stuff?
Answer: I decided to start this blog after a recent change in my career and after a lot of contemplation. I had a funky work/life balance, and wanted to find a way to make the “life” part a bit more fulfilling/interesting/mildly present.
Question: And you think people will care?
Answer: I hope so!
Question: Who are you, again?
Answer: Bye.
